7 Wedding Favors Your Guests Will Actually Use

When you consider how much money is spent purchasing perfect wedding details, it can be frustrating to picture guests heading home afterwards and immediately tossing their pricy party favors in the trash. Keeping this in mind, we set out to develop a list of favors we’re sure won’t be thrown away.

By picking items that either coordinate with the actual reception plans or come in handy to most people on a daily basis, you won’t have to worry about your parting gifts being put to waste. Here are the seven we came up with:

  1. Flip flops- This is a great choice for beach weddings. If your reception is taking place in the sand, offering guests a pair of personalized flip flops as they make their way onto the beach is a super helpful party favor that they’ll be sure to make use of.
  2. Succulents- This idea is growing in popularity as well, offering guests a cute, living piece of décor they can add to their homes when the party is over. Depending on the wedding’s color scheme, a table filled with pretty succulent favors looks stunning in the reception area as well- an added aesthetic bonus of this functional party favor.
  3. Koozies- This is another perfect option for a destination beach wedding. Especially in places where it isn’t legal to sip an open container of beer at the beach, a koozie is a great, functional gift for guests who will be hanging out on the shore for a few days after the wedding.
  4. Recipe Cards- This is an awesome gift idea for couples who like to add a personal touch to things. Have the pair pick their favorite recipe, then get it printed on pretty cards so each guest can take home a taste of the happy couple’s favorite treats.
  5. Candy- This has been a popular wedding favor idea for years. Ask the couple to come up with a list of 10-15 of their favorite candies and then lay out bowls of all the treats on a buffet table, asking guests to fill small to-go bags with their picks.
  6. Donations- This is a great idea for couples who bond over their political and social beliefs. Rather than spending money on pricy parting gifts, print out cards to offer guests at their seats, explaining that a donation has been made to a certain meaningful charity on behalf of every family member and friend in attendance.
  7. Lip Balm- This is a super practical option for chilly seasonal weddings, when chapped lips could be a bothersome issue for guests out in the cold. As we mentioned in our list of tips for planning wintertime weddings, it’s important to keep comfort in mind.
