Understanding Wedding Florals

As aspiring wedding planners, it’s not only important to master traditional elements of design such as florals, but to understand the significance behind said traditions.

Clients appreciate a planner’s ability to articulate a deeper explanation of certain colors, styles and customs. It shows an attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of the industry. The more you’re able to demonstrate knowledge of marital customs and trends, the more the group you’re working with will trust your judgment. So when discussing potential floral choices for the big day, here are some basic things to remember:

  1. Roses are symbolic of love and are unsurprisingly therefore the most popular choice for most weddings.
  2. Orchids symbolize rare beauty. These are becoming an increasingly popular choice as well because of their convenient year-round availability.
  3. Tulip symbolization depends on the color of the flowers you choose. Red tulips symbolize declared love, while yellow tulips symbolize hopeless love.

Some flowers are recognizably timeless wedding favorites while others incorporate fresh trends. But whatever your couple is into, consider researching the traditional meaning behind the bloom. An awareness of said connotation adds something a little extra expressive to the décor, contributing to an overall more meaningful design.
