A new fashion season is beginning, which means it's time to look at what will be hot for 2014 in jewelry trends! After researching runway, red carpet and market styles, I've discovered seven main trends to look out for this year.
Bright primary colors and geometric shapes take center stage.
It's time to channel your inner kindergartner! Look for pieces in fun colors like bold red, primary yellow and bright green. You'll also see geometric shapes in more styles to flatter everyone, like this sweet yellow boxy bangle from Céline. It makes a statement but could flatter a variety of outfits.
All that glitters is gold.
Ok, maybe not all that glitters, but gold is making a strong showing in jewelry (as well as in home décor trends). So pull back out those gold pieces, and look for stores to be carrying more of this pretty metal. Between yellow gold and rose gold, there's a gold for every skin tone.
Be confident with gunmetal silver.
If you're going silver, consider using dark gunmetal tones. It makes a gorgeous contrast with clear crystals, or you could pair it with light pastel stones for summer. Gunmetal silver has an understated quality — bright or shimmering stones and crystals complement it best.
Go big and funky.
Don't be afraid to show your quirky side with jewelry. Go for that large jaguar pendant, layer on tons of bead necklaces, or pair your newest statement necklace with that crystal choker. Large, fun pieces are in style this year, so feel free to add a touch of playfulness to your accessories. There are no rules. If the proportions look right to you, go for it.
Glow in Radiant Orchid.
Pantone has chosen Radiant Orchid for the color of the year in 2014. Look for the deep purple hue to show up in statement necklaces, bangles and more. This rich color looks beautiful paired with grays, other jewel tones, or as a pop of color with black or white. There are lots of options for you with Radiant Orchid.
Get ready for statement collar pieces.
Look for necklaces that fit close to the neck. While the long tassel styles that have dominated the past few years won't disappear, collar pieces are starting to come back in. These don't have to be large necklaces — a single, bold metal collar will make a statement. You can also play with adding in other trends like geometric shapes to make a unique and pretty collar necklace.
You can't go wrong with vintage.
This is near and dear to my own heart, and I'm so glad to see this trend continuing. Vintage style jewelry will make another strong showing in 2014. Look for pretty rhinestone earrings, glittery statement necklaces, and delicate bracelets that have a vintage flair.
