How to Make a Style Board

If you’re interested in becoming a professional personal stylist or image consultant, it would be wise to follow in the brainstorming footsteps of many renowned fashion designers, starting with the creation of a style board.

A style board is really just a blank slate on which you can start to pin and organize some ideas and looks that inspire you. You could use a bulletin board and pin tear-outs from magazines and print outs from popular fashion blogs- or maybe even a graphic design or packaging aesthetic that inspired you in some way. Regardless of what moves you to recreate certain looks, it’s important to stay organized and keep these ideas flowing and together in a cohesive space you can reference when you need some metal reminders.

If you’d rather keep your ideas digital and are more of a technology-minded creative, check out an online site like Polyvore, where users can create their own virtual mood boards while browsing ones that have been made by others in the industry.
