Snow may have been taking NYC by storm, but inside DIFFA’s Dining by Design show, signs of spring were sprouting brightly all over the exhibits. Designers and artists created show stopping tabletop décor for the annual fundraising for DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids).
In a glorious profusion of oranges, yellows, and greens, the Kravet dining exhibit was easily the most colorful. Artist Hunt Slonem, known for his neo-expressionist renderings of tropical birds, displayed hand painted plates of parrots amidst a bouquet of tulips, roses, and orchids. Kravet fabric of tropical birds graced the seating.
Event Planner, Bronson Van Wyck, created a pastoral folly reminiscent of the French countryside for his dining exhibit. Decked in soft blue and white Brunschwig & Fils trellis fabric and surrounded by classic Delft tile patterns, the table is set with blue and white china from Bunny Williams’ Campbell House collection. One can imagine a chateau in the background of this timeless setting.
Designers from Anthropologie hatched up a whimsical table with a combination of recyclable materials and tabletop accessories from their store. A tree made of leftover wood planks and, overhead, painted soda bottles cut up into floral blossoms provide a canopy for alfresco dining. Bird candleholders and the Dreambirds plate collection complete the playful table.
