    Janet Ramin

    Janet has been a residential designer for many years. Starting out in San Francisco where she graduated from the Academy of Art with a degree in interior design, she began her career working on commercial mixed-use projects in the Bay Area.

  • Nicola Chernicoff

    Nicola Chernicoff

    Nicola Chernicoff has been an interior design professional with over twenty years of experience in London and New York City. She started her design career in fabrics under Jim Thompson. Later, she worked as an assistant to prestigious interior designer Nina Campbell at Woodstock Designs. Then she worked for Lady Henrietta Spencer Churchill. Nicola currently works in interior design in New York City for Irwin Weiner Interiors.

  • Lisa Tabalac

    Lisa Tabalac

    Lisa Talbac earned her degree in interior design at the New York School of Interior Design. She has worked on both residential and commercial projects since 2000. She founded her own interior design business in Connecticut. She also holds a B.A. in education and has worked as a teacher and school director for over 25 years before entering the design world.

  • Melissa Estrada

    Melissa Estrada

    Melissa is the Founder and Head Designer of Strada's Spaces, a residential interior design online-based firm. She holds degrees in Architectural Studies and Interior Architecture. She has an educational focus on Sustainable Design. She became a LEED AP for Homes in 2016. She is currently incorporating Feng Shui design in her repertoire of services.

Skills for interior design will vary depending on the industry, niche, and much more. A skilled interior designer must develop several different qualities to meet the needs of their clients. Here are a few skills that most designers must master:

About Our Mentor Program

At NYIAD, you’ll have access to a professional designer who will act as your teacher and mentor.

You will benefit from a personal relationship just like you would get in the classroom. Our mentors are there to answer your questions via phone or email at every turn.

In addition, you will submit projects throughout the course which will be evaluated by your teacher. They are there to help you improve as you master the craft.
